What’s the Word on the Street?: Habitat

SCENES: Big Bird's friends greet him as they pass by. It’s a cold day, so Chris gives Big Bird a bowl of birdseed soup. A bird real estate agent who goes by the name of Freddy Flapman hears that Big Bird feels cold and tells him, that lots of Birds migrate from cold places to warm places and that Big Bird should do it too since he is also a bird. 

So Freddy uses his “real estate magic” and takes him and Big Bird on a virtual tour to the beach and raps about the positives to be in a warm place as a Bird and he shows that different birds like pelicans or seagulls live there. But Big Bird declines Freddy’s offer and walks away.

So Big Bird walks home and Maria stops him on his way to give him a scarf which will warm him up. Big Bird says that the scarf will for sure come in handy in the cold. Now Freddy appears again and tries to convince Big Bird to move to the swamp. Freddy again shows Big Bird the positives of living in a swamp as a bird but Big Bird turns him down again.

Big Bird is now in his nest. Gordon comes by and gives him a blanket which should also keep him warm. Then Freddy appears again, yet telling Big Bird again that he should move to the rainforest. He takes Big Bird on a virtual tour again and this time, Big Bird actually doesn’t turn him down. He likes the rainforest and would like to live there which, of course, surprises Gordon.

Big Bird has just finished packing and now walks down the street to say goodbye to all his friends, thinking that they can come over every day and play with him in the rainforest until he learns, that the rainforest is too far away from the city to come over every day. So Big Bird now sings about how he realizes that Sesame Street is where he belongs to and after that, Freddy tells him that he won’t bother Big Bird again. Everyone is heading into Hooper’s where Snuffy welcomes Big Bird back home.

Celebrities: Cameron Diaz and other Animals from the woodland describe, what a habitat is.

Muppets: Murray is announcing that Abby’s Flying School is coming up, but first, it’s time for the letter H. He and some friends from New York play “Bring out your H”. They show him different things that begin with the letter H.

Film: Two kids try to find H words in their clubhouse.

Muppets: Murray and Carson are introducing Abby’s Flying Fairy School

Animation: The class plays with the class pet, Niblet. It is now Gonnigan’s turn to hold Niblet but he’s too afraid to do it so he disappears. Blogg then holds Niblet but he steals Blogg’s wand from him and he has to chase Niblet but runs into a crayon painting on the wall in which Niblet has run inside of. Blogg is unable to get in so Spot shows him a video of doors so they have an idea. Abby draws a door onto the drawing and they get inside to chase Niblet which draws … so Abby and Co. have difficulties to chase him. Niblet proceeds to run into a hole, so they think they’ll never see him again, but that brings him out of his hole again. He gives the wand back to Blogg and Gonnigan finally gets to hold Niblet.

Muppets: Murray again announces that Bert and Ernie’s Great Adventure is coming up, but first, he counts 40 birthday candles and nurses.

Animation: Traction Jackson raps and counts to 40 with his friend.

Muppets: Murray announces, together with the kids, Bert and Ernie’s Great Adventure.

Animation: The two Duck Detectives Ernie and Bert are called by Veronica Lambshank to investigate the strange behavior of her friend, Malty, who is claiming to be a “Maltese Duck”. They Disguise themselves as Veronica’s sheep cousins to meet them by the pond. So they try to find out if Malty is really behaving weirdly, Well, it turns out, that Malty is a Black-Bellied Whistling Duck and just pretended to be a Maltese Duck so Veronica would be his friend.

Muppets: Murray is announcing that “Elmo’s World” is coming up and gives us a demonstration of upside down and right-side up.

Celebrities: Elmo and the Kids help First Lady Michelle Obama, to plant a garden on the street. Big Bird comes by and sees Michelle eat seeds so he thinks that she is a part-bird.

Muppets: Murray and the kids introduce Elmo’s World.

Elmo’s World: Frogs

Muppets: Murray tries to announce the sponsors but ends up forgetting them. So he rethinks the entire day and announces them one by one and finally signs off. Sesame Street Episode 4187 ends with this last scene.
