Sesame Street Kids' Favorite Songs 1999
Kids’ Favorite Songs is one of Sesame Street direct-to-video-special (1999)
Frame 1
In this episode, it’s all about Elmo searching for a place to practice for his appearance on the radio. In the first shot, we can see a man oiling a bike with his son while the song “Old Mc Donald had a farm” is playing in the background. We can also see kids playing some kind of basketball game and a mother with a baby in her hands walking down the street.
Then it cuts to a boy who is playing with a toy train while listening to music on a radio. The man in the radio announces, that all the toy train conductors out there should sing along with the next song. The boy wonders what song it could be. He looks at the radio while the song is playing. He recognizes the song and starts singing along happily.
Shortly afterwards, the boy and his father start singing along, too while the other kid taps his nose which makes a honking sound and the father is repeatedly pumping his air pump. He is also pretending to play the guitar on his pump. Sesame Street Kids' Favorite Songs reminds us of the past.
After that, the song ends and the man in the radio says that they shouldn´t miss Elmo’s top 10 countdowns which is coming up a little later. Then the man, also called Gordon, says, that he didn´t know Elmo is going to be on the radio that day. The boy asks Gordon what a top 10 countdown is. He explains: Elmo is probably going to pick his 10 favourite songs and play them on the radio, beginning from 10 and counting down to number 1.
The boy realizes that it is like counting backwards. Gordon agrees and wonders what songs Elmo is going to choose. The boy’s claiming that he can count from 10 to 1 before asking the audience if the can do that too. It cuts to a screen with a countdown from 10 to 1. Sesame Street Kids’ Favorite Songs Frame 1 ends.
Animation
In the beginning, there are 10 figures on a circle. Then it keeps decreasing the numbers of figures on the circle.
Frame 2
On Sesame Street Kids' Favorite Songs we can see Elmo going down the street, practising for his countdown on the radio by repeatedly counting from 10 to 1. It cuts to Count von Count who is hoping that Elmo is going to pick a song that he likes. He then meets Elmo who is still practising.
Count von Count starts singing a song which he learned when he was a little “Countling”. It is called “This old bat” and he also brought his bat-friends to sing it with him. Elmo isn´t very happy with that at first because he needs to practice. But then he starts singing along. I love to listen to this on Sesame Street Kids' Favorite Songs.
In the song, he has already counted to 4 and wants to count to 5 with Elmo who is refusing to do that. So he walks away and continues to practice. He walks past his friend who wants to talk to him about which song Elmo should play on his top 10 countdowns.
Then he starts singing the “ABC” song. As he sang all of the letters, the A and the Z start singing with him. As the song ends, he finally knows that Elmo should play this song and walks away.
In the next shot on Sesame Street Kids' Favorite Songs, we can see Elmo who is still practising.
Then Mr Snuffleupagus walks by and asks the audience if they´ve seen Elmo. He turns around and sees Elmo. He’s heard about the top ten countdowns and he wants to make sure that Elmo plays his favourite song.
Snuffy tells Elmo that he has something very important for him to hear. Elmo asks what it is and Snuffy says that it is his favourite song. Elmo says that he is a bit busy but Snuffy can convince him to hear it. Snuffy sings “Row your boat” and after the first line of the song, Elmo wants to sing it with Snuffy and pretend that he is the boat. So Elmo climbs on Mr. Snuffleupagus’s back and they sing the song together.
After Elmo climbs back down again, then they sing the song again and they keep increasing the speed of it until Elmo has to go again. Snuffy wants to tell Bird about all that. Sesame Street Kids’ Favorite Songs Frame 2 ends.

Frame 3
Now we can see Telly on Sesame Street Kids' Favorite Songs 1999, but this time he sings “Twinkle, Twinkle little star”. Then he claims that that song is absolutely the one that Elmo should play on the radio. At the moment he wants to leave, Black Sheep walks bye and he says “Bye, Bye Black Sheep” which sounds like the song “Ba Ba Black sheep” so it reminds him of that.
Now he is unsure what song Elmo should play. In the next shot, we see Elmo hiding behind wooden boxes to practise. He does that because he doesn´t want anyone to distract him from practising.
Then Prairie Dawn walks along, singing with a group of kids which are also practising a song so Elmo doesn´t forget it. But that just distracts him again. So the kids and Prairie walk away and Elmo can´t get the song out of his head which distracts him more from practising. Elmo should realize that the Sesame Street Kids' Favorite Songs video has been shot.
How should he practise when he got that song in his head all the time. But then, he has got an idea. The music gets turned on again and Elmo counts down from 10 to 1 but this time, he sings while doing that. It cuts to Telly again who is now singing “Ba Ba Black sheep”. Once the song has finished, he is still unsure if “Ba Ba Black sheep” or “Twinkle, Twinkle little star” is his favourite song.
So it cuts back to Elmo, who is searching for a place where he can practice his countdown and Big Bird said that he can practice in his nest. Sesame Street Kids’ Favorite Songs Frame 3 ends.
Frame 4
He goes there and sees Big Bird with a group of kids who sing “She’ll be coming round the mountain” together. Elmo is, of course, surprised when he sees that. But he still has to find a place to practice. So he says goodbye to Big Bird and gets on the way to find a place where he can practice.
He stops at some boxes and wants to take a nap, so he can practice later. Now it cuts to Elmo’s dream where 3 pigs sing “This little piggy”. Then, Gordon tries to wake up Elmo because he is going to be late to his top ten countdowns. He wakes up and Gordon asks him which songs he is going to play at the top ten countdowns. Elmo says that he isn’t going to play any song on the radio. He’s only counting down from 10 to 1. But everyone in the Sesame Street Kids' Favorite Songs video thought he is going to play 10 songs.
We see Telly, searching for Elmo to tell him what song he wants him to play on the radio. Then, it cuts to animation again but this time it takes place in a factory. The next shot shows everybody from before standing around the radio. Telly wants to sing his song which he wanted to be on the radio. It’s called “The Alpha Ba Ba Twinkle song“. After he sang it, they all sing it together.
Then we can finally hear Elmo’s top 10 countdown. Everybody counts with Elmo. Sesame Street Kids’ Favorite Songs 1999 ends.
