As we see in the title the special video is about Christmas. Everyone is preparing for the holidays on Christmas Eve. Elmo has a different idea, his plan is not to sleep and stay up all night on Christmas Eve because he wants to see Santa Claus descend from the chimney. But he cannot stay up and he sleeps, but luckily he can wake up due to the noise, Santa is stuck.
Elmo helps him to save from there. Santa Claus wants to show his thanks, for this reason he offers him two gift. Elmo should choose one of them. The first one is a pink bear, the second one is a magical snow globe. Elmo wants to get pink bear, but Santa causes to change Elmo's choice. Because he says if he choose magical snow globe, it will provide him three wishes.
Elmo listens his advice and decides to get magical snow globe. Elmo wants to use it in fact wants to make a wish. In order to use the snowglobe's power, he must shake the snowglobe, and say "Blitzen." Elmo's first wish is quite easy, because it is a glass of water. He makes this wishes when he is thirsty. Santa Claus finds his first wish very easy too and tells him he could have anything. And warns him not waste the other wishes in Sesame Street Elmo Saves Christmas.
Elmo's second wish is more different than the first one. According to him, everybody becomes so happy and excited at Christmas, due to this his second wish is that Christmas was every day. This idea is liked by some of them. Elmo thinks his second wish is perfect, but Santa returns from the North Pole to express to Elmo that Christmas every day is not so great as he expect.
Santa brings Elmo to the future to show him what Christmas would be like at different times of the year. Elmo sees his second wishes is not perfect as he thinks. First he sees Big Bird while he is crying because Snuffy who spends Christmas with his grandmother for a whole year, is in Cincinnati. Later he sees Maria and Luis. They get angry because the Fix-It Shop being closed all year.
Also, Santa's elves are so tired because Christmas is every day and end up producing a cow-bunny combination called the "Moo-Bunny." Apart from this other holidays, like Easter and Independence Day, are not fun like old days. But we see only Oscar the Grouch who is one of the Sesame Street residents he enjoys Christmas every day is He loves to see all the broken toasters piled up by the Fix-It Shop. There is nothing on TV but it’s a Wonderful Life.
One year later after that first fateful Christmas, the Fix-It Shop and other stores have closed, Count von Count has tired because of counting many things to do with Christmas in the course of 365 days, and also the whole carolers have lost their voices due to singing songs so much, Christmas trees have become endangered species, and Santa is so tired that he decides retire from his job and move another city.
Elmo realizes his second wish is not so good that he expects and this causes him use his last wish to undo his second wish. He shakes the snow globe but it flies out of his hands because he shakes it so fast and smashes to the ground, it is a bad thing for him because he couldn't complete making the wish before smashing, which means it will be Christmas forever.
Elmo suggests that Lightning could fly him back in time to the Christmas Eve when everything began, luckily it happens and Elmo choose pink bear without hesitation.
