Oscar and Grundgetta are preparing to go to the Nasty Car Races in their cherished Sloppy Jalopy, and they sing a lively ditty about their adventure. As the song comes to an end, they attempt to drive away, but the car refuses to start. Unable to get it running, Grundgetta receives assistance from Luis and Maria. Though Oscar is initially resistant, he agrees to accept help when he realizes that they might miss the race otherwise. Luis has his doubts, but Maria takes the initiative to visit the library and find a book titled "How to Gunk Up a Sloppy Jalopy and Make It Run Again." They pour anchovy syrup into the engine, but it fails to solve the problem - instead, it ends up covering Luis and Maria in the sticky substance.

Luis believes that it will require magic to get the jalopy up and running again. As if on cue, Abby Cadabby appears, and Oscar suggests she use her wand to fix the car. With her magic word (allerednic! - Cinderella spelled backward), she inadvertently transforms the jalopy into a pumpkin, much to Oscar and Grundgetta's dismay. Abby uses her wand to contact her mother, who provides a new spell to revert the jalopy to its original form. However, the car still refuses to start, and Abby vanishes.

Gina and Marco happen upon the scene, and Marco playfully tosses his juice bottle at the car, surprisingly causing it to start. At that moment, another Grouch (Joey Mazzarino) arrives to present Oscar and Grundgetta with the trophy. As per Grouch rules, since the jalopy never actually moved, they are declared the first-place winners.
